Cameron and Lisa: The Wedding

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of shooting Cameron and Lisa's wedding. It was my first wedding as the primary photographer and also my first solo wedding. That being considered I think it went very well!

Cameron and Lisa had a beautiful day and I am so glad I got to be a part of it. They are a very energetic couple and it was fun to work with them and it made my job easy. Here is how the afternoon went: Enjoy!

We started off by getting some fun shots of Cameron and his groomsmen. They were a fun group!

Here are a few shots from the ceremony. I like the one of Lisa a lot...she is tearing up as she reads her vows. It was a great moment! Also my close friend and mentor, Gus did the ceremony. It was his first wedding too but he did a great job! I also need to thank his family for referring me for the wedding photography!

Here are some of details from the day:

After the ceremony we got some fun group shots of the wedding party and some of Lisa and her bridesmaids.

And my favorites - the couple shots and some portraits of the beautiful bride!

Finally, a few from the reception...

I was off the clock and about to leave but I heard rumors of some sparklers at the first dance so I stuck around for a few extra minutes. This shot made it worth it!
Thanks guys for a great day...I wish you the best of luck in life's journey!

The Steelwells at the Detroit

On Monday a friend of mine introduced me to her favorite band, The Steelwells. They were playing at the Detroit in Costa Mesa. I had never heard them before but really liked their music. They may be the next big thing! You can check it out HERE. I'm looking forward to seeing them play again!

I didn't bring my camera, but I live right down the street and we got it last minute. I was glad I got it and had fun taking a few shots. I had never done band or "concert" pictures before so it was cool to try something new. It was a small venue and there were really no lights or much light at all for that matter. I was amazed at what I was able to capture at the high ISO's of my Mark II. I was shooting at its limit which was barely enough to get some pictures. It really is an amazing camera.

You may notice I didn't do any noise reduction in post processing. I kind of like the grainy feel that comes with the high ISO...especially in B&W.

Tuesday

Here are a couple shots from my road trip down to Mount Laguna with my Dad over the weekend. You can't beat the beauty of California...

Hope you are having a great week!

Madera and Box Canyons, AZ

A few weeks back I took a short trip to Arizona to hang out with my Dad who was out on business. We went exploring in the mountains south of Tucson and found some really sweet spots in Madera and Box Canyons. I had never seen terrain like this before and it was definitely a memorable trip.

Here are a few pictures from our adventures. I have been playing around a lot with the post processing recently in the last few weeks so you may notice a new feel to some of the pictures. It is definitely something I am developing and getting better at over time.

Enjoy!

My dad was catching and recording butterflies. We both have our hobbies that give us a good excuse to be enjoying the outdoors.
We found a cool little frog which I kept on having to chase, and some cattle roaming around.
On our way back to Phoenix we drove through Saguaro National Forest. It was beautiful there...so different from California!
These last two were inspired by Trever Hoehne. He is an incredible photographer who I look up to very much. I love his "blurry things" work which inspired these last shots.
